Regular and Frequent Quality Controls and Infection Control Practices

Internal quality audits about tests analyzed in our laboratory are performed regularly at certain intervals. Strains defined by NCCLS are used in internal quality controls for bacteria identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. We have joined External Quality Control Program for microbiological identification, complete blood count and prothrombin time .

Which Tests are Performed in Our Laboratory?

  • Complete blood count
  • Erythrocyte sedimentation rate
  • Peripheral smear
  • Coagulation tests
  • Prothrombin time
  •  INR
  • Bleeding time measurement

Microbiological tests (from throat, nose, ear, sputum, abscess, cerebrospinal fluid, wound swab, surgical material, body fluid, blood, urine and stool samples)

  • Direct and Staining Microscopic Examination
  • Aerobic bacterial culture
  • Bacteria identification
  • Antimicrobial sensitivity test

Serological tests

  •  ASO
  •  CRP
  • RF
  • Complete urine analysis
  • Stool microscopy and parasite tests

What do We do for Tests not Performed in Our Laboratory?

Samples for anaerobic culture, mycobacterial culture and fungal culture not analyzed in our laboratory are sent to contracted external laboratory under suitable conditions, and studied.

What are the Infection Precautions Taken in Our Hospitals?

Preoperative Interventions

  • Checking the risk factors of the patient.
  • In patients with diabetes, blood glucose should be managed.
  • In elective surgeries, smoking should be stopped 30 days before the operation.
  • The patient should be bathed with chlorhexidine gluconate of 4% before the surgery. (Cleaning with Washcloth)

Postoperative Interventions

  • Wound care.
  • The wound site should be dressed under sterile conditions.
  • The dressing should not be wet or dirty.
  • If the surgery area is on a limb, it should be kept above the heart level.
