Orthopedics & Traumatology
Life cannot exist without mobility; without mobility there truly is no life...Sustaining mobility cannot be separated from the continuation of life; consequently, it has been the most important field of research throughout history. The human skeleton upright on two legs, along with muscles and joints, provides the mobility that connects people to life and so enables us to maintain our existence. The field of orthopedics and traumatology has been one of the most studied branches of medicine as the mobility in our lives has increased over the years. Many factors such as wars, traffic accidents, sports related injuries, work related diseases, occupational accidents, along with fractures resulting from the joint diseases and myolysis that emerge because of the expanding human life span, have made the specialization in the field of orthopedics and traumatology definitely more essential to be able to sustain a healthy life in the last century. To draw attention to the importance of this field in our times, The United Nations declared 2000 to 2010 as “The Bone and Joint Decade.”
